For more than 30 years, Carolyn Hoyt has held roles across the development and alumni relations spectrum. She came to the University of Pittsburgh in 2019 to serve as vice chancellor for advancement services and to oversee the database migration to Salesforce. In her current role as vice chancellor for advancement operations and chief PAE strategy officer, Hoyt oversees a team of approximately 50 people who provide all internal advancement operations for the Division of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement, including prospect development, technology, records management, gift administration and policy development.
Before joining Pitt, she worked for seven years at the Oregon Health and Science University Foundation, where she rose to the role of vice president of development operations and services. As vice president, Hoyt had oversight of annual giving, gift administration, information technology and business intelligence, research and prospect management, communications, donor engagement and board relations and focused on leveraging all of the operational units to carry out the fundraising mission. Prior to joining the OHSU Foundation, she led advancement services at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where she also was responsible for raising leadership gifts.
Hoyt began her advancement career at her alma mater, Bucknell University, where she worked in alumni relations, annual giving, stewardship, prospect research and advancement services for 14 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Bucknell and a Master of Public Policy and Management from Pitt.
