On Feb. 10, 2026, Doug McCullough was appointed acting chief advancement officer at the University of Pittsburgh.
Previously, he served as the vice chancellor for individual giving, schools and centers, in the Division of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement (PAE). In this role, which he held from November 2018 through February 2026, McCullough was a member of the PAE senior leadership team and led annual, major and planned giving for the provost-area schools, centers and other priorities.
Prior to joining Pitt, he was at the University of Pennsylvania for 16 years serving in a variety of roles, starting as a senior major gifts officer for Penn Arts and Sciences in 2002 and then director of major gifts in Penn’s central development office from 2008 to 2012. McCullough subsequently led major gift fundraising for Arts and Sciences as executive director for advancement from 2015 until 2019, and managed international fundraising for Penn Arts and Sciences in western Europe and Latin America.
His entire career spans 25 years, including development positions at Ohio University and DePaul University. McCullough earned a bachelor’s degree in history at the College of Wooster; master’s degrees in history and international relations at Ohio University (where he was a Fulbright research scholar); and a master’s degree in library and information science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
