Juliana Zipay

Juliana Zipay is a strategic communicator and professional designer and writer with more than 10 years of experience in the higher education and nonprofit worlds. She is passionate about creating and implementing communications strategies that are meaningful, engaging, actionable, inclusive and accessible.

As associate director of communications and strategic project management in the University of Pittsburgh Office of Engagement and Community Affairs and in support of the University’s Public Impact work, Zipay drives and develops the strategies, stories and visuals that bring Pitt’s community impact to life.

She joined the University in 2017, serving as communications manager in the Office of Human Resources. Prior to working at Pitt, Zipay served as the membership and marketing manager for Silver Eye Center for Photography, a nonprofit photography art gallery located in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood. She earned a Master of Public Management at the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in communication and rhetoric at Pitt.
