Juliana Zipay is a strategic communicator and professional designer and writer with more than 10 years of experience in the higher education and nonprofit worlds. She is passionate about creating and implementing communications strategies that are meaningful, engaging, actionable, inclusive and accessible.
As director of strategic communications and creative content in the University of Pittsburgh Office of Engagement and Community Affairs and Pitt External Relations, Zipay drives and develops the strategies, stories and visuals that bring the University’s community impact to life.
She joined Pitt in 2017, serving as communications manager in the Office of Human Resources. Prior to working at the University, Zipay served as the membership and marketing manager for Silver Eye Center for Photography, a nonprofit photography art gallery located in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood. She earned a Master of Public Management at the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in communication and rhetoric at Pitt.
